We strive to shape landscapes that are grounded in the particularities of site, promote resilient ecosystems and resonate with those who inhabit them. Our process always begins with close study of the existing place and intent listening to the people who will make it their own. We aim to craft places that elicit a spark of connection, landscapes that support daily rhythms but also flashes of unexpected delight. As a given, our design decisions are guided by the principles of social and ecological sustainability. With plants, water, ground and a meaningful palette of materials, we work to sculpt thoughtful architectural spaces and a choreography of dynamic habitats.

Red Clay Landscape Architecture is a full service landscape architecture studio, tackling a range of projects from the scale of the watershed to that of the handrail. We bring the combined professional experience of founding principals Sophie Johnston and Shanti Fjord Levy in a diverse array of public and private project types. Supporting our landscape architectural expertise, our backgrounds in visual arts, environmental science, architecture, and social sciences equip us to tackle the interdisciplinary demands of our profession. We thrive on good collaboration with clients and diverse teams.
